Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

See how distracted I am? Didn't finish the post for this date, just below. So, other memorable moments from the past month: (3) driving down Interstate 95 to Virginia Beach with the outdooor temperature gauge showing 107F. (This summer we have gotten to experience the hot, hot weather we craved.) (4) Lounging by a pool in 100F heat, having just come out of the water, and rereading The Brothers Karamazov. (Unlike true lovers of books, as C. S. Lewis believed, I reread few books, but T. B. K. is an exception. I love the accounts of the elder Karamazov acting the buffoon, albiet cruelly; I marvel at Dostoevsky's imagination...). (5)Stopping at a roadside stand in the middle of The Endless Mountains of northern Pennsylvania, buying 12 ears of local peaches and cream corn for $2.00 (just had some--perfect). (6) Taking a 90 minute walk (including breaks) through neighborhoods and along forest paths one day with temperatures in the 90's; buying and draining a quart of chilled Gatorade.
