Whoah. Just completed a move to a smaller, nicer, less expensive residence. Was utterly worn out but today am feeling a bit better.
In the reading department, I'm almost to the end of The Narnian by Alan Jacobs, definitely, in my view, the best book on C.S. Lewis. (Distinguished blurb-writers on the book's back cover agree.) I like the book--an exploration of his life and imagination--again because it is balanced. Lewis is neither lionized nor panned. His last book, An Experiment in Criticism, by the way, was written when he was about my age and his health was failing. The inspiring thing about the book, says Jacobs, is that though he was weak and ill and the book was flawed, Lewis still was making the attempt to fight a necessary battle. (The book attacked an elitist sort of literary criticism then gaining prominence.)
So there you have it. Now to get ready for church, but first I, must make at least passing reference to the weather. Beside the entrance to our new residence is a pile of snow about three feet high. A few days ago we had one of Alberta's freaky spring snowstorms. Cool, eh (in more ways than one)?
