Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Was just trying to write this post on our back deck, in the lovely sunshine.(Too bright: couldn't see the screen.) Typical Calgary summer weather finally is here with the rain ending and clear, sunny days, day after day. Never gets uncomfortably warm, or only slightly so, and the air coming in the window in our homes (without a.c.) seems "sweet."

Calgary factoid I learned yesterday while browsing in a Chapters (sort of like Borders). A book by Christopher Buckley mentioned that his father, William F. Buckley, worked one summer in the early 50's in Calgary. His father, I take it, was a Texas oil man among other things and WFB was working in one of his dad's offices. Calgary then was vastly different with a true small town feel, or so I am told. (WFB, by the way, flew over the mountains to visit a young lady, a Vancouverite, he'd met back east, and they were married like a year later.)
