Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Change, change, change. Started a continuing education course, an introduction to public relations, last week at a local college. I go four more nights, three hours a session. After that I can take a course in p.r. writing, same deal. Five Tuesday nights.

Weird. Never saw myself considering p.r. (which some journalists call "the dark side"), but realized that if I passionately believed in something, say, a Christian educational institution, I could see myself doing p.r. with enthusiasm.

Other folks in the class were from the corporate world, so I felt a bit out of place. I was the only one thinking of working in non-profit.

The course is an exploration. I want to see if it's something I am meant to do. I am praying things will become clear and have a sense that if it's meant to be, it'll be. My journalistic successes this past year have seemed miraculous, things I wouldn't have believed possible, so I figure God can make the p.r. option happen too. And if it doesn't come about, I'll chalk it up to experience.

(In other news, I'm feeling semi-encouraged about dropping pounds. My average for the week was the same as last week's, but this a.m. I hit 200 or 3.5 lbs less than two weeks ago. Trending the right direction.:))
