Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Besides being a freelance writer, Ted is a husband, dad, grandpa, and Christian believer. After getting his B.A. in English from Geneva College, he worked as a small town newspaper reporter and then in a variety of other occupations. He and his wife live in Calgary, Alberta.

Top headline here in Calgary, for me at least, is the weather. More of the really cold stuff, with a high temp tomorrow of -5F. Was out this morning shoveling about three inches of new, powdery snow. Quite beautiful, actually. The side streets, all untouched by the city (as per their by-laws) were pure white, packed down, and shining. Those snow tires we bought in December continue to pay huge dividends.

In other news, I'm getting to the end of the biography of Benjamin Franklin and find my admiration of the man is somewhat tempered. He was a lousy husband and father in many respects. He didn't see his wife for, I think, 18 years while he went about his business, albiet important business, in England. She finally died without him seeing her during her final illness. Later, his son William, who remained loyal to the king during the war, wanted to be reconciled with Franklin afterwards. In a word, not. Franklin couldn't forgive his son for siding with his enemies. The author says that of course the same could be said for Franklin on the other side. A real blind spot.

Anyhow, going to end here: a good movie coming on!!!
