Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Ah yes, ah well. The Intro to PR has indeed helped me see what a career in the field, or part-time job, would look like. Also, what skill sets I'd need to learn. Decided on Tuesday that a future in PR, for me, at this stage of the game, is unlikely. I indeed will be chalking up the class to experience.

Haven't had the heart to be writing here for a while. Too much going on--too much to process, too much weighing down. I finished T.R.: The Last Romantic and learned he died of heart failure at 60. His youngest son had died in WWI the previous year (all four sons served) and that, combined with tropical diseases he'd picked up and whatever, did him in. So now I'm on to H.W. Brand's hefty life of T.R.'s distant relative, FDR. Why do I read these biographies and novels (mainly at bedtime)? A simple answer is, to keep my mind occupied. Bunyan said in his introduction to Pilgrim's Progress that he'd written it, while in prison, to keep his mind from getting onto worse things. Turned out he'd scribbled a bestseller, nay, a classic of the English language. Who knew?

The "skinny" on my weight loss efforts: My average for the past week was 200.2. When I started the process five weeks ago, it was 204.3. I'm slightly off pace, but feeling pretty okay about the effort...
