So in my reading these days I have an abundance of riches. At the church library I came across the book Jack!, a biography of C. S. Lewis by George Sayer. Sayer had Lewis as a tutor at Oxford and remained his friend until he died 29 years later.
It's definitely the best piece of work on Lewis I've read: well written and researched, all with an insider's perspective. A particularly fascinating part tells how J. R. R. Tolkein strolled with Lewis in the middle of the night on "Addison's Walk", and talked to him about "myth" and the Christian faith. In doing so he helped answer some of Lewis's intellectual questions as he was coming to faith.
This evening, we're going to...the symphony, free tickets having come our way! (So we won't be watching a Turner Classics movie tonight...)
