Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Current Calgary temp: 56F or 13 C, and the sun doth shine. Our young tattooed fellow tenants were out washing their two red sports cars in the wide, paved back alley. This actually was a revelation for us: we can wash our little car back there too, stretching the garden hose. Urbanites that we've been, that's something else we've not done in a long time.

Soon I must go forth and purchase the cheapest non-motorized lawn mower I can find. (Might only need it this season.) We saw a cheapie at Walmart a while back. We figured out why grass and dandelions are growing lushly in a spot next to the back of the house, by the way: the dryer vent! Created an artificial environment, like the area in Lake Ontario near the Pickering nuclear station where warmer water fish flourish.
