Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Well, what can I say? The top story today is the weather. Temps are below average and we're getting 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) of snow today and the same tomorrow. The high temp today is supposed to be 6C (21F). The norm for this time of year is 41F.

Furthermore, it's not supposed to go above freezing until Wednesday. The good news is that they're still predicting the temperatures will rise into the 50's by next weekend.

At some point I'll be going out and shoveling snow, but I notice that none of our neighbors have done so today. They're all waiting for the snow to finish falling first.

All right, I admit it, we now have crossed the line from "being intrigued by April weather variations in Calgary" to feeling just a bit depressed by it.

But it will be fine and it could be worse. Far worse.

To wit:

(1) We could be living outside, in a cardboard box.

(2) We could be unemployed.

(3) One or both of us could have just been diagnosed with a dread disease.

(4) We could be living and not know a single soul who cares about us.

(5) We could have no understanding that God loves us and is in control.

(6) And so on.

(7) And on...

(8) ...and on!

So I'll stop my whimpering, buck up, and decide whether or not it's about time to go ahead shovel that walk again.

And after that maybe I'll read a good book.
