Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Just sent the following account of today's weather in an e-mail:

"Well I sit here looking at a sunny, 'bitterly cold' day. A half-inch to one-inch, ribbed ridge of ice has formed at the base of our picture window. Ben's brawny, snow white cat Boris, who's staying with us for a year, normally is frantic to get outside and wily in sneaking out. But as an experiment yesterday, I let him approach the door and gave him a chance to get out. He took one sniff and turned around. When I checked the Calgary temperature online, it showed -15F. Smart kitty. The cold's to continue all week, with it 'warming up' one day to -9F. Today's HIGH is to be -23F."
