Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Hmmmm, haven't been blogging much lately. So much to do, so many ways I get feeling, like, a little crazy, and WHO CARES ABOUT MY BLOG,and so forth.

Okay, first, the weather. Since my last report--A MONTH AGO--things have been quite different. In a word, warm. Well, there were a couple days last week when it felt like January in Ontario, with strong winds and snow flying. But mainly it's been pleasant. Take today for instance. I saw that now-familiar chinook arch this morning (the clouds stop in a line where the warm winds rush in over the mountains). This, in fact, is what at least one Calgary native calls "chinookin'" as in "It's chinookin' out there today."

Next in my report from north of the border is the political stuff. The three opposition parties in Ottawa formed a coalition to try to oust the Tory minority government. High drama, history being made, and a long meeting between the PM and the GG (Governor General) wherein he got permission to "prorogue" (postpone) Parliament until late January. The coaliton promises to boot him out at the first opportunity. Big friction once again between the West and the East, particularly between Alberta and Quebec. Anger, fulminations, and the like. Quite depressing, really. Shows you how human Pride can mess things up.

Actually it's all is too complex to explain, and, well, I have to get back to work now (I write this on our laptop during LUNCH AT HOME, a cool little thing I've been able to pull off, sometimes with more success than other times...)

So TTFN...
