Steffin Hill Extension

During my childhood, the longest our family ever lived in one place was from 1957 to 1967 when we lived on Steffin Hill Extension. The house had a large lot and a lovely view of the western Pennsylvania hills. It was while living there that I began writing letters. In this blog I continue the tradition, with irregular updates on my life and times.

Another weather note: the average temperatures we're experiencing in Calgary are about ten degrees Celsius below normal. (Farenheit translation: instead of highs in the upper 60's or low 70's, we're getting highs in the upper 40's or low 50's.) Looking at all the devastation in the U.S. Midwest, we obviously are not suffering a great deal.

Meditating this morning, I was reminded of how little we ought to be dependent on weather to elevate our moods.

You want some of our heat?? Highs in the 90's and 100's with 50% humidity make for quiet days, too--it's just too hot to go out! Unless you're heading to the pool (and even then, the water is usually 90 degrees, so what's the point?)

Sure wouldn't mind a little dip down into the 60's, 70's myself, at least for a day... Oh well.

Yes, and we wouldn't mind being transported to some hot weather for part of each day. Here it's actually been comfortable to go out sometimes with a parka, hood, and gloves. However, some Calgary people go out in T-shirts or shorts no matter what the temperature. (It's June and I'm going to enjoy it!)
