It's frosty out there this morning, with a light dusting of snow, but the forecast for the next few days is good--6C, 3C, etc. No matter the daytime high, however, the temp drops significantly at night compared to Toronto. Has to do with the altitude, the latitude. In summer, no a.c. is required, with daytime temps in the low 20s (C) or low 70s (F).
We've got a list of things to attend to, including getting the ball rolling on Alberta provincial healthcare. There's an overlap between the provinces so we'll still be covered with our Ontario healthcare for a while. We've got to get some documents copied then we go downtown to the government office.
Also, ironically enough, I've developed something of a dental emergency during this high stress transition (it's a peridontal issue) and need to see someone today to get a prescription. Alberta, unlike Ontario, includes dental coverage in its healthcare, but it doesn't kick in for three months and my coverage from where I used to work ended already. So, some out of pocket expenses. Ah well. Such is life, such is change, such are the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune..."
Gus is as happy as a clam in his new surroundings. On the trip, at fuel stops I'd take Gus in his little carrier back to the Hyundai we were pulling, open the driver's side door, put his carrier on the driver's seat and open the carrier door facing his covered litter pan. Gus would climb out, do his business, then climb back inside his carrier. Fortunately we have a smart cat. At night we'd let Gus out in the hotel room (having paid the pet premium) and he'd curl up next to various ones of us in the night.
I'm sitting at the dining room table using our laptop. Ben got our wireless system up and running and it's a luxury to have two computers online. The living room/dining room area is starting to look really good--really pleasant in the morning with the drapes drawn back. We have two small, matching, tasteful IKEA carpets that tie it all together nicely. The older I get, the more I realize, "aesthetics matter."
Well, must run...
